Shuckle’s Secret Santa for GolbatHow the Golbat Saved Christmas
~by Shuckle
Every year had a gath’ring, upon Halloween
Of the scariest Pokemon you’d ever seen
The Gengars, the Haunters, the Dusknoirs too
A scary assortment from Platinum to Blue
Yet in this menagerie one Golbat stood out
Who just didn’t get what the fuss was about.
He felt his true calling, not terror or fear
But the warm fuzzy feeling of holiday cheer
Desires his family can’t understand
“Leave Christmas to Stantlers!” they’d all reprimand
And so, with his wishes and hopes disregarded
The Golbat left town, by himself, broken-hearted
He found a small cave in the crags of Mt Moon
And, with an inkling that Christmas’d come soon
Went looking for holly on the forest floor
And fashioned a wreath out of vines for his door.
But there was a crash one cold winter’s night
Which woke the Poke-town folk with a fright
They saw a deep crater, and smold’ring below
The white star of Christmas was lodged in the snow
The people were questioning, hows wheres and whys
When Delibirds flew down from up in the sky.
“Our guiding light’s fallen!” they cried in dismay
“Gifts won’t be delivered before Christmas Day!”
All hope seemed lost when a voice volunteered.
“I’ll bring the star back.” - The crowd quickly cleared
the way, for amongst them, the lone Golbat stood.
“I’ll bring it back up to the heavens, for good.”
And so the brave bat took the star in his jaw
And flew into the night. The crowd stared in awe.
They watched till he soared, and was no longer seen
Save the brilliant white star’s almost heavenly sheen.
Though he never returned, that Golbat’s remembered
As the one who saved Christmas that cold, cold December

The crisp, fresh snow glistened in moonlight, everything silent and silver. The Grovyle smiled as he walked down the path, pulling is coat around his shoulders. It was a cold night, but he wasn’t complaining; it was just perfect for Christmas. He hummed a small tune as he looked around, admiring the natural beauty as he shifted the bag on his shoulder. He couldn’t believe that another year had come and gone already. Christmas was his favorite time of the year; everything was so peaceful and he finally got a break from traveling with his trainer.
He smiled as he came up to a house carved out of a tree and knocked on the door, a girl of twelve answering. “Hey Gaden! Long time, no see! Come to visit Garden for the night?” He nodded and smiled as he shifted the bag, the girl giggling. He just rolled his eyes and walked in, slipping the bag and coat off, then took the presents out. The girl giggled again and led him to the tree, leaving the room.
He sat in a chair and closed his eyes, shivering a little. It had been a long walk from his trainer’s house, but he didn’t care; he’d finally get to see Garden again after almost six months.
The door creaked open and he cracked his eye, looking over and smiling. A shiny female Grovyle stood there, a slight blush on her face and he smiled. “Hey Garden. What’s up?” He slipped out of the chair and wrapped his arms around her neck. “Long time, no see…” He smiled at her and she smiled back as she rested their foreheads together. She nuzzled their noses and he smiled as he kissed her, the world melting away as they became the only ones in the world.
